Ian Nurser, NLE
Chief Executive Officer & School Improvement Officer
Ian Nurser is an experienced National Leader of Education and has experienced a number of system leader roles at local, regional and national level. Ian has over 25 years’ experience as a successful headteacher in a range of schools. He has designed innovative school-led school-to-school support strategies and currently leads a £500,000 Strategic School Improvement Fund project across Shropshire and Telford and Wrekin. As well as leading the Trust, Ian will focus on school improvement, supporting Headteachers and Local Governing Bodies to further develop the quality of education and provision within each academy.
Ian is also Empower Trust’s Accounting Officer.
Tricia Slater, DSBM
Business and Finance Manager
Tricia is an experienced Business Manager with Academy experience.
Before moving into the Education sector in 2013, Tricia worked for the Crown Prosecution Service for 12 years where her last post there was Business Manager.
Between 2013 and 2018 she worked as a School Business Manager in a large primary school where she was part the school’s Senior Leadership Team. She completed her Level 5 ILM Accredited Diploma in School Business Management in 2016 and is also a member of ISBL (Institute of School Business Leaders).
PA to Chief Executive Officer & Trust Office Coordinator
Michelle is an experienced PA having over 10 years’ experience within an educational setting. Her experience includes providing Professional Assistant duties to the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team in two secondary schools whilst undertaking an additional role of Educational Visits Coordinator. She also managed an Adult Education programme, a conference centre and community facility hire at a large College.
Michelle has a background in Human Resources with experience in recruitment & talent planning and employee relations and has a recent CIPD Associate qualification.
Michelle provides PA duties to the CEO, ensures the efficient running of the central office and provides a link between the central team and each academy.
Rebekah is the Financial Administrator for Empower Trust based at the central office.
From 2010 – 2018 she worked in retail banking with 5 of those years spent as Counter Manager in various different branches.
Rebekah is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and is looking forward to building a career in Financial Administration with the Trust.
